Historic Westwood || Bridal || Alysha Payne

I got to meet Alysha Disney, now Payne, for the first time at a wedding that I shot in Charleston, SC. She is literally the definition of a southern belle. Not only is she absolutely gorgeous but she’s so incredibly sweet, a feature that I know she has inherited from both her mom and dad. We quickly realized after we met for the first time, that we actually went to the same tiny college. And to top it all off, her fiance, now husband, played basketball at the same tiny college along with my husband. Granted, I think they JUST missed sharing the court together, but regardless… it was quickly becoming a super small world. Shortly after this initial meeting, we got a snow… actually the last snow of the season, and even before everything became official, I got to shoot half of their engagement pictures that you can see here.  It was absolutely freezing though, so we only stayed out about 30 minutes and then did the second half of the engagement pictures on University of the Cumberlands’ campus in the spring. As much as I LOOOOVE shooting in the snow (said every photographer ever), the spring engagement pictures on campus were my fav. The bright colored tulips, the perfectly manicured landscaping, the creeping flowers that hung over the sidewalk… everything about it was SO amazing.

At that point I thought for sure it would be so incredibly hard to top that location and scenery for the rest of their shoots, but let me just tell you, Alysha did it. For her bridal session she found a big house called the Historic Westwood home. Not only is it gorgeous on the outside, but it had indoor spots that were equally as stunning. And since we had to take her bridal portraits in November, this was especially important. But also can I just brag on the staff at Historic Westwood for a second?! I mostly worked with Alyson Gallaher, and she was simply one of the BEST contacts I’ve worked with in the wedding industry. She was so personable through email, quick to respond, but when we got there, that’s when she really blew me away. She was super understanding when hair and makeup were running late, she helped me move a TON of furniture around so I could have the best pieces in front of the best lighting, she helped me carry a HUGE vintage chair outside and back in, she started moving all the moved furniture back in place by herself before we finished outside, and so much more. I could not recommend this venue enough! But anywho, lets get on to the pictures… Alysha is just stunning, the house and the the light and the furniture were all great, but would look completely ordinary without her. JP, you are one lucky man ;-).
