Where to begin with this wedding?? So. Many. Awesome. Things. to say. Let me start back in the beginning. Emma was a bridesmaid in Kenzey and Jackson’s wedding that I photographed last December at Sampson’s Hollow. She got engaged to Sawyer and they quickly decided they wanted to have a destination wedding at the foot of the Grand Tetons just outside of Jackson Hole, WY. Her and Sawyer both did a summer program where they worked in Jackson Hole. They spent that whole summer exploring and wandering the mountains. It was easy to say that Yellowstone National Park had completely stollen their hearts. So Emma reached out to me with a lot of question marks… would you even be interested in something like this?!?! And as easy as it was for them to choose the Grand Tetons as their destination wedding location it was even easier for me to say YES YES and YES to Emma! Of COURSE I would be interested in photographing your beautiful destination wedding in WY with the Grand Tetons in the background. What part of that sounds bad??? Oh, and Dustin and I made a family vacay out of it and brought little Gray and my cousins/best friends with us. I would be lying if I told you that I wasn’t a little bit nervous traveling with Gray. He has been on a schedule since the beginning of his life. He operates SO well on a schedule. And flying on airplanes, driving hours in cars, sleeping in weird places, 2 hour time changes…well… those don’t fit with schedules. But you guys, he killed it. He didn’t even let out one little cry on any of the plane rides. He did super well for the car rides. He slept pretty well in the hotel pack-n-play. He transitioned to the 2 hour time change like a champ. This kid was golden. So I was to excited to not have any worries or stresses going into Emma and Sawyer’s wedding. We arrived at Mormon Row 3.5 hours before sunset to do a first look. It was absolutely FREEZING and super duper cloudy, but nevertheless, we were in Wyoming, just miles away from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park, with sweeping golden grass and land so flat you could see for miles… it. was. gorgeous. I am so absolutely honored to have gotten to travel to WY with these two and preserve their love forever. There is nothing I love more than seeing two people in their happy place become one under God.
I can never say enough thank you’s to Emma and Sawyer for inviting me to tag along. You guys are beautiful.
