Family Farm Engagement Session

This guy’s family owns a 350 acre farm out in Greeneville, TN. When I met with Ashley for our meet & greet, we talked about location ideas for their engagement session. We threw out places like The University of Tennessee’s campus, Downtown Knoxville, and World’s Fair Park. Then, in an attempt to tailor the location to them I said, “What are some places that are meaningful to you guys that you go to a lot?” She said, “Well, Andrew has a family farm out in Greeneville, TN that has some really pretty views, and we go four wheeling there a lot.” I immediately knew that was it. That had to be the spot we would capture their engagement session.

Fast forward to last weekend as we drove through numerous fields to get to the cleared off hill that has all the views. We passed a rustic barn, a cow pasture, a harvested corn field, and a mowed hay field. The whole time I’m thinking to myself, ooooo that would make good pictures, ooooo that would, too! Mid-way through the scenic mountain and sunrise pictures, I asked them if they had any other places they wanted to go on the farm. Both answered no. They thought this was the only spot that would make good pictures. So, I got to let my creativity run!! We ended up going to all the spots I mentioned before that we passed on the way in. In addition, we ended the session at the adorable farmhouse where I originally parked my car. I’m sure to them, they just saw an old corn field, a dilapidated barn, and a poop-y cow pasture, but I saw all the things that allowed for variety in their session and that showed off the different aspects of Andrew’s family farm. I’m so excited we got to do something so custom to the two of them, and I think we got some really authentic engagement pictures!
