Erin and Michael had flawless weather for their fall Castleton Farms wedding. I’ve shot a TON of weddings at Castleton Farms. I know you’ve heard me preach about how I strive to take unique and beautiful photos that don’t just duplicate other weddings I’ve shot there. This was easy to do in Erin and Michael’s case though because of the unique way they used the property.
Erin and Michael moved their ceremony to a big field overlooking the mountains. The best part about this particular location is it is shaded. So, when Michael turned to see his bride coming down the aisle, he wasn’t looking straight into the sun. Huge perk! After the ceremony, their guests moved to the vineyard for cocktail hour so they still got to use one of my favorite locations at Castleton.
Not only did they choose a different set up for the ceremony, but they also chose a different reception spot. They put the DJ and dance floor outside under the café lights, and their head table ran down the center of the pavilion with a row of thick greenery and roses overhead. It looked amazing. It got a little chilly that night, but as long as you were dancing, it was the perfect temperature to cool off a hot dance floor.
One of my favorite things from their day has to be the father of the bride speech. It was the right amount of sentiment, humor, and gratitude. Erin’s dad killed it. He reminisced on the days of playing basketball with Erin, and it immediately took me to my future of Dustin playing basketball with our kids. It was really sweet and really precious. I think several people even teared up. I hope one day…years from now…I’ll be able to help Dustin write a speech like this to give at our girls’ weddings. So thankful Erin and Michael had me as part of their day and even more thankful for their kindness and thoughtfulness throughout our time together these last several months! Excited to share a highlight of their day!!
