I lived in Nashville for two years before moving back to Knoxville. While I was there, I worked hard at building my photography business not knowing how long we would be in Nashville. All that time though, and I never had the opportunity to shoot a East Ivy Mansion Wedding. Partly because there are just SO many Nashville Wedding Venues for brides to choose from and partly because they have their own house wedding photographer that you actually have to pay them to use someone else. But Maria knew when she saw my work, that she wanted me and that she was putting it in the budget to pay the extra fee to bring her own photographer in. I am so glad that she did because wow… this wedding was stunning. Maria is basically a model anyway, I mean, the girl is gorgeous. But the way she put everything together. The table-scapes, the cocktail hour, the ceremony site, the florals, the seersucker suits… it all fell into place uniquely beautiful. East Ivy Mansion Wedding Venue had a classic vintage look about it that fit right into Maria’s wedding vibe. There were amazing things to photograph on all sides and from all angles.
After I culled the wedding photos, I started putting together a submission to get this wedding published on a renown wedding blog. I reached out to Maria to share some details about the wedding and about how her and Clark met. So I will be sharing two stories with you on this post. Maria and Clark have mutual friends. One of these mutual friends share a birthday close to Maria’s and actually had a joint birthday party with her 4 years ago. Clark was invited and came to this joint birthday party. But him and Maria never met. Fast forward a few years and Maria gets this text message from a guy saying that this mutual friend gave him her number, said she was super cool and asked if she wanted to hang out. Maria had a job that had her traveling a lot at the time and she was in Vegas that whole week. Months later they actually end up hanging out and now they’re married. I love hearing these stories and how it works out that people meet their forever love.
Now for the classic #AMPFavoriteMoment from the wedding day. I’m kind of stealing this one from Maria. This was another question she answered for the blog publication questionnaire and I just loved it so much, I had to share it with you! There were things happening all day that were causing sweet Maria to be a little stressed. In particular, the 80 year old priest trying to find the venue. So in the minutes leading up to the ceremony, it was a little chaotic trying to give him directions while he was driving, but none-the-less he made it. So you can imagine the vibe in the air right before the ceremony began. The bridesmaids were diffusing the air with laughter trying to chill it out, and then the ceremony started. When the doors opened to reveal Maria and her dad, I saw it on her face. Excitement. Love. Happiness. Joy. All the stress was gone. The strings played “Don’t Stop Believin” – Maria’s favorite song of all time and she made her way to the aisle. When she was finally close enough to lock eyes with Clark, she saw the happy tears in his eyes and then her dad rested his hand on her arm and whispered to her “Take your time, enjoy this walk, you only do it once”. That is some of the best words he could have given her in that moment. As a wife and once a bride, I can tell you the memory of that walk is one of my favorites. I also remember the music playing, the emotions I was feeling, the tears Dustin was crying, it is one of my fondest memories from our wedding day. To you future brides, remember this. It’s amazing advice.
