Downtown Family Photos
Mark surprised Delyn with a family session for her Christmas present. He found me, reached out to me, scheduled with me, and to her surprise, we met by the big Christmas tree for some downtown family photos. When they arrived, I started with my usual opening spiel. I told them what to expect, asked them to empty their pockets, and made sure they go by their first names. Right in the middle, Delyn says, “he’s used to this because I used to be a photographer, and he listened to me make this same spiel to all of my clients.” I had no idea she was a photographer! I am always so humbled shooting another photographer, but Delyn made me feel extra special. The next question I asked was if she had a hair tie on her wrist that she wanted to take off. She looked at Mark and said, “ooooh…I like her,” as she took the hair tie off. Then, I placed them in their first spot beside the tree in some fabulous light, and she said, “oh man, you did so good. This is exactly where I would have placed us!” I’m not going to lie…it made me so happy.
I take a lot of engagement photos downtown, but I don’t shoot downtown family photos very often. I have to say it was a lot of fun! Even more fun with a fellow photographer and a husband that just adores her. We even got to recreate one of their wedding photos. It’s the one where he’s holding her in his arms with one of her feet popped in the air!
