Douglas Lake

When I met with Chaney, she kept telling me how picky she was with pictures. They got engaged in the summer of 2016, but it was early 2017 when she hired her photographer because she is just so picky. She doesn’t particularly enjoy having her picture taken anyway, much less for a whole entire day of wedding photos. As she was saying this to me, instead of making me nervous, it fueled me to blow her away. What an honor it was that she had chosen me to capture her day, and now I was going to make this girl love having her picture taken. So first up was the engagement session. I was so excited when she told me that they were wanting to do her family’s lake house on Douglas Lake and Sevierville Golf Club. A perfect combo of the two of them. The weather was incredible, the smiles were beaming, and I think Chaney can say that she enjoys having her picture taken a little bit more now.

The Wedding

These two are getting married on the beach in Ponce Inlet, Florida. It’s really just crazy how God works. Dustin and I were braving a beach trip with a three month old at the end of May, beginning of June. I have been DYING to photograph a beach wedding, so I asked my sister-n-law if she would dress back up in her gown, her husband to get in some khaki’s and a white button up, I would buy a wedding bouquet and flower crown down there, and we would do some bride and groom portraits on the beach while we were there. The vacation ended on June 3rd, and I had a wedding in Knoxville then, so I was planning on coming back early to shoot it. Well a couple weeks after booking this trip, that wedding asked if they could move their date to July. I agreed and a few days later Chaney inquired with me about photographing her wedding on June 3rd at the beach. God answers the desires of our hearts. Not always how we want Him to answer and not always in our timing, but He does. It’s such a beautiful thing.
