Last weekend, I was supposed to shoot a wedding at Maple Grove Estate. Unfortunately, the bride broke her foot a few weeks before the wedding, and they decided to postpone until after she heals. This meant I had a random free weekend in the middle of May, which is one of the busiest wedding months of the year. Immediately when we found out they were officially rescheduling, we started brainstorming what we to do that weekend. We rarely have two days off in a row all together so we had to do some kind of adventure. We hardly ever get to go camping so that’s where we landed. It just so happened I already had Deana and Adam’s Cumberland Falls engagement session scheduled for Friday so it was easy to decide where to camp. Thankfully, the Cumberland Falls campground had some open spots, and we decided to set up shop.
Our go to spot is always in the Smokies. We do different campgrounds, but almost always in the Gatlinburg area. It was nice getting a change of scenery and taking the kids to several spots we went in college (we both went to college at the University of the Cumberlands just 30 minutes away from Cumberland Falls). This leads me to Deana and Adam. Deana also went to college at Cumberland. She and Adam live north of the area now so when we were deciding where to meet in the middle for their engagement session, Cumberland Falls was the obvious answer. If you’ve never been there, it’s definitely worth your drive. The only downfall is there is absolutely no cell service, which stinks when you really need to get ahold of someone. Say, if you get stuck in traffic and are a few minutes late 😉 It all worked out though, and Deana and Adam were a total dream!
