Craggy Garden Wedding || Knoxville, TN Photographer || Angela and John

Marshall House Inn

Are you a fan of the smoky mountains? Because I am. I love that we live so incredibly close to such a naturally beautiful part of the world. Going to the mountains and hiking, camping, driving, biking, photographing, and more is one of my favorite past times! Of course, being from Knoxville, I typically stay local and just go around the Townsend and Gatlinburg areas. But this wedding took me into the section of the Smokies closest to Asheville, North Carolina. You may know it as the Blue Ridge Parkway. This wedding was a very small intimate gathering that started at the Marshall House Inn in Marshall, NC. Angela, the bride, put together the most BEAUTIFUL tablescape for their dinner/reception. She had the perfect cake table and gift table and pretty much everything about the Marshall House Inn was photo worthy. When you’re getting there, you get off the interstate 30 miles before you actually arrive to Marshall. There are winding roads going with the river, up and down mountains, through other tiny towns… and then finally you come across one of the most adorable little places on earth, Marshall, NC. Perched straight up on the side of the mountain is the Marshall Inn. With little to no space for parking, because it’s literally on the side of the mountain, most guests will park at the bottom on the only road going through the town and walk up the hill. Thankfully, you can drop your luggage off at the door ;-). They have just completely renovated the Inn and everything from their decor to the front porch rocking chairs is perfect. All the windows and doors were open letting a little breeze circulate the house and you could smell the forest. So if you love being in the mountains but like sleeping in a bed, this is definitely a stop for you. Also, if you’re getting married and want to do it here, please hire me… I’m dying to go back!

Craggy Gardens

On our way to Craggy Gardens, we pulled off and did a little pop up ceremony at one of the overlooks. The guest list consisted of parents and siblings with one stunning flower girl. There was acoustic live music by Spencer Ray and a view that absolutely took every single person’s breath away. Mountains for days. Rolling into the sky. What an artist our God is. After the ceremony, we went to Craggy Gardens. Also a must see if you’re driving the Blue Ridge Parkway through North Carolina. The trees in this garden are unexplainable. The kind of reminded me of apple trees the way they twisted and were real knobby. But John, the groom, said that when it gets warmer they get big magnolia-like leaves on them with beautiful pink flowers. So when it’s all bloomed out, nothing like an apple tree. So you hike through these trees to the point of this mountain and, if it’s even possible, the view got better than the ceremony. And the sun was setting which gave this GORGEOUS golden color, and the sunset with it’s oranges and yellows… I still cannot stop staring at every single one of these pictures. As your scrolling try not to drool.
