Cleveland Newborn Session
Back when I first started shooting newborns, it was SO hit or miss on if I had a good baby to photograph. I would go into the session hoping they would do well for me, but ultimately, it was a 50/50 chance. Then, I started learning some tricks to pass along to mom and dad before our session to help baby do well. Even still, sometimes they just aren’t feeling it. But recently…recently, I have had the BEST babies.
When I arrived at the Stinnett home for this Cleveland newborn session, little Jackson was passed out in his crib. Swaddled, just laying there all angelic, ready for me to do my thing. I’m not sure this sweet babe cried even one single time throughout the entire time at their house. As we wrapped up, Erin said he is even already on a sort of schedule and loves sleeping in his crib. I was immediately so proud of them.
One thing that is undeniable about babies is they love structure, schedules, and routines. It can’t always be that way, but starting it off that way from the beginning will help them get all the nourishment they need, all the sleep they need, and all the cuddles they need. It’s hard though. There are days in the thick of it that I remembered feeling like my life would forever be stuck at this house on a three hour schedule, and how in the world am I going to read that same book ONE MORE TIME?!?!?! But you just do it, and before you know it they’re down to one nap a day, eating all the table food, and telling you when their diaper needs to be changed. Or better yet, aren’t in diapers anymore.
The way I used to do my newborn sessions (a few years ago) wore me out. I did it for a season, and I just got so burnt out on it. But now…now, I am more in love with them than I’ve ever been. I literally love shooting newborns again!
