If you’ve planned a wedding for any amount of time in Knoxville, TN, then you’ve heard about Castleton Farms. It is definitely one of Knoxville’s premium wedding venues and is located just outside the Knox County line in Loudon. Its name is a little deceiving though because it’s not what you think of when you think of farm venues now-a-days. It’s quite the opposite actually. There is a fabulous barn with the most perfect, manicured lawn ever, but that’s not all they have. There is a vineyard option, a pavilion option, a mountain view/river view option, a wooded option… and Darla, the Executive Director, loves making every wedding original so if you want to get creative and have your wedding somewhere else on the grounds, she’s definitely on board! When I was a bride, I actually went and tried to tour the venue for my wedding, and immediately when I walked on the grounds, I was blown away. It is stunning. Everything from the entryway, to the landscaping, to the very specific layout of the entire place…there is no doubt that it will blow your mind. But let’s also talk about the staff that runs Castleton Farms. There is the boss lady, Darla. She runs the show at Castleton and has spent years curating the perfect combination of vendors that will serve every single couple like they are their only couple. Ultimately, isn’t that what every bride wants? I mean, I did. My sister-in-law did. My stepsister does as she’s planning her wedding right now. We all know that vendors have multiple couples, otherwise they wouldn’t succeed as a business, but to make your couples feel like they are the only ones is the key. And honestly, as a vendor, I firmly believe that we should do that! This is undoubtedly the most exciting, emotional day in a couple’s life up unto this point, and all they want is to be surrounded by people who are as excited for them as they are for themselves. That’s the team that Darla has put together. When you have your wedding at Castleton Farms, there is a very narrow list of vendors you choose from to serve you. This is purposeful. This will prevent you from getting some vendors that are not so…hmmm…how should I put it…good. Vendors that are not so good lol. I actually wasn’t on this list at Castleton, but I know Allison and Mike so well that they jumped the hoop to make sure I was able to photograph their day. For that I am eternally thankful. It was an absolute honor to be on the Castleton Farms team for a weekend and watch that machine work so beautifully. I have and always will have nothing but great things to say about that place and what they do for their couples!
Oh gosh. Where do I even begin with these two? I can’t believe they are finally married. Allison and Mike have been together for seven years guys. SEVEN years! They started dating in high school when Mike asked Allison to prom, and then went through distance for basically the rest of their relationship. At least one of them has been in college ever since, and throughout their entire journey of long distance, they talked almost every single night through Skype or FaceTime. How crazy is that??? Even when couples are in the same city they don’t talk that much. And it’s really cool how my path has crossed with both Allison and Mike separately. When I was growing up, my dad got super involved in a church called New Covenant in Powell. Mike and his family also went there. So, the first time that I was hired to photograph Mike & Allison was when Mike was proposing to Allison on the Chattanooga Riverboat. I saw Mike and thought, gosh that guys looks familiar, then it came full circle when his mom came up to me and started talking about New Covenant. What are the chances?? Then Allison’s family and I go way back. I actually went to college with Allison’s sister, Alysha. I went on to photograph Allison & Alysha’s cousin’s wedding, Alysha’s wedding, and now have the absolute pleasure of showing you Allison’s wedding. At the rehearsal dinner for Mike and Allison, all their people got up to give toasts and kept talking about what amazing people each of them were. How loyal they were to each other and their family & friends. How kind and thoughtful and generous they were. And the fact that all these different people that know Allison and Mike in different ways were saying the same consistent comments just reiterated the fact that these two are just incredible people surrounded by so many other incredible people. I said this in the Instagram post that I made of Allison and Mike’s sneak peek, but their wedding was a little bittersweet. Mostly sweet, but the bitter is that now all the things are done, and I don’t have an excuse to see one of the sweetest, most thoughtful families I’ve ever worked with! I was just so so honored to get to be a part of their day, and I cannot say thank you enough for entrusting me to document every. single. thing. You guys are so great, and I know that you are going to have so much fun on this journey of marriage!
