Castleton Engagement Session

I don’t know if you remember this couple, but I had another Castleton engagement session for them back in the summer last year. They really had their hearts set (or Madeline had her heart set) on doing some boat engagement photos in the little pond at Castleton Farms but at the time, the boat was being repaired. I saw the look on her face when she told me the news and she was devastated.  She had purchased a big fancy hat to wear just for their boat pictures. After a little consideration, I thought it would be great to do 3/4 of their Castleton Engagement session in the summer and come back in the spring, when the boat was fixed, and finish off the other 1/4 with boat pictures. And boy am I glad I did because these are so so so dreamy! Between the beautiful sunset, her hat + floral dress, his suspenders and the AMAZING wooden boat… I felt like I was on the set of The Notebook. I think all the girls everywhere can admit that they have a small dream of taking romantic sunset portraits in a wooden boat on the water at some point in their lives. I can’t pretend like it’s as perfect as these photos make it seem though. John Christian was a little bit terrified that they were going to tip over. But here’s how you know he loves Madeline, because he was SUCH a trooper through these photos! At one point I started to get in the boat with them and watched his face turn to the “deer in headlights” look. I looked at him and said I am really… and before I could finish my sentence, he said SCARED… TERRIFIED… AFRAID WE ARE GOING TO TIP OVER???? I couldn’t help but laugh when I said BALANCED! I am really balanced… I’m definitely not going to make us… and again before I could finish, he goes well I am NOT! He was being so real and so honest but I was dying on the inside. I hope that looking at these, he can say it was totally worth it. And aren’t you impressed that in the photos he looks so cool, calm & collected?
