Baxter Gardens is one of those hidden gems in North Knoxville that only comes out for a very very short season. Every year, during the Dogwood Arts Festival, the Holston family opens up their private residence to the public to enjoy one AMAZING landscaping job. You have the option to drive through it, walk through it, or photograph in it! I’ll take the latter, please! It is by far one of the prettiest places in Knoxville. Not only does it have GORGEOUS, perfectly sculpted flowers, shrubs, walkways, ponds, gazebos, etc…but it also has a breathtaking view of the Smoky Mountains AAAAANNNNDDDD… drum roll please… it’s free. I’m not sure what made the Holston family want to be so generous with their beauty, but I’m oh-so-thankful. Especially, when I get to capture Baxter Gardens engagement sessions like this one.
Danielle & Matt chose to have a downtown Knoxville and Baxter Gardens engagement session. After weeks and weeks of endless rain (sorry that we couldn’t have shared some with you, Southern California), we finally got a gorgeous streak of sunshine. Even if it was still a little chilly, you could never tell in these photos because Danielle and Matt were bound and determined to make it look as springy as it SHOULD be at this point in April. P.S. What is going on, East Tennessee??? Anywho. I really really really loved getting to know Danielle & Matt better, and if I wasn’t already sold that I was meant to shoot their wedding, I definitely am now. Danielle and I couldn’t be more similar! Despite our drastic height difference, we are both so giggly and smiley and genuinely excited about all the good things in life. Before we started shooting, I did my typical run down of prep talk, and she looked at me and said, there’s probably going to be a lot of laughing going on because that’s what we do… and if I were an emoji, my eyes would have turned to hearts. Little did she know that’s my FAVORITE kind of picture…the laughy ones :-). So, I narrowed it down for this blog post, but it was hard.
