Baxter Gardens 1 Year Session
Can you tell I am loving me some Baxter Gardens right now?? This spring has brought a LOT of rain, which has pushed a LOT of sessions from March into April. Then, I found out that Baxter is open the ENTIRE month of April, and well…I just couldn’t help myself. I love May and all the warm sunshine that comes with it, but I’m definitely dreading the loss of this magical garden.
This time I’m showing you a Baxter Gardens 1 Year Session. Eylan Rhoades is turning ONE!!! How is this possible? It’s almost been an entire year since I was photographing this little nugget for her newborn, 6 month, and 9 month photos! She was born right around the same time that G was born so we have been like mommy sisters this past year. And baby Eylan has made my momma heart crave a little girl. I mean, c’mon. Look at her. I can’t even contain myself. But none-the-less, I need to get to the point because Nikki did something I haven’t seen any mom do yet (although they definitely have, this is just the first I’ve seen it personally). For this Baxter Gardens 1 Year session, instead of a smash cake, she did a smash WATERMELON. I feel like this definitely only works for spring and summer babies, but if you are not really feeling the whole sugar thing yet and don’t want to bake your own banana/applesauce cake, then this is absolutely the way to go. Eylan did AMAZING with it, and it was ADORABLE watching her bite straight into this massive slice of watermelon. She still got super messy, which let’s face it, is why moms do cake smashes in the first place. It’s just too cute for words. And she loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to do a little watermelon smash outside with Grayson this summer. Right next to the water hose so we can rinse him off afterwards!
