I have photographed the Wertz family so many times over the years, and I truly adore them. As it came time to plan their next photo session, we talked through what would work best for their family during this particular season of life. Their oldest son, Beau, was turning four, and their youngest, Owen, is right around six months old. Two wonderful milestones that deserved documenting.
They knew they wanted their photos taken around this time of year, but there was a challenge. The sun sets so late that golden hour falls well past the boys’ ideal schedule. In previous years, we have worked around late sunsets by choosing a sunrise session instead. While early mornings can provide that same gorgeous golden light, getting two little boys dressed, ready, and out the door before sunrise is a lot to ask!
Instead of forcing an outdoor session, we moved everything indoors for a White Room family session. It was the perfect decision.
I have truly loved having the White Room studio available as a beautiful and dependable option for my clients. When a couple travels to Knoxville for engagement photos and rain changes our plans, we can move into the White Room quickly and easily. When young children have a bedtime that falls well before golden hour, the studio gives us the flexibility to photograph them when they are happiest. It is also a lovely setting for newborn sessions, family portraits, and editorial bridal photos with a classy, clean look.
The White Room has been such a saving grace over the past year. I love the natural light that pours into the space, the simplicity of the surroundings, and the way its clean, neutral backdrop keeps the focus on the subjects.
That was certainly true for the Wertz family. Their personalities, connection, and joyful smiles absolutely popped against the bright studio setting. The boys were able to enjoy the session without staying up late or waking before dawn, and we created photographs that feel relaxed, timeless, and completely true to this sweet stage of their lives.
I’m so grateful to document the Wertz family through the years, and I truly love everything we captured during their latest White Room family session.
