A few days before a session with me, an automated email goes out asking my clients to please arrive 5 minutes early to their session. This is my way of hopefully getting to start on time. See, when we decide on the start time for your portrait session, it’s solely based on sunset time. It’s especially important in the summer because the heat is real, and the closer we get to sunset, the cooler it is outside. So, if you are late to a session, it’s eating into the prime sunlight time. I almost always arrive 10-15 minutes early to a session to review some notes, scout if I need to, find good parking, and reload my camera with fresh cards and batteries. I always want to beat you to our location so I can welcome you and/or help you navigate the parking situation if it’s a challenging one. But for Lauren and Austin’s summer UT Gardens engagement session, they beat me! It rarely happens, but when it does, I’m extra appreciative. It just shows me how excited you are for our time together. Sure enough, when I got out of the car,, Lauren had the BIGGEST smile on her face. She has one of those smiles where her eyes disappear because she’s smiling so big. These are my FAVORITE kind of smiles. It’s also how my husband and most of his family smiles. Also how my son smiles. I like to say it looks like you’re smiling with your WHOLE face when this happens. It’s just so joyful.
The happiness Lauren and Austin brought to their summer UT Gardens engagement session was abundant. I knew Lauren through another wedding I shot a couple years ago where she was the maid of honor, and it was like no time had passed at all. She was just as sweet then as she is now, and I’m so excited to get to celebrate her and Austin this time around!
