I have photographed my fair share of Knox County Courthouse elopements over the years. The way Savannah and Chase did it is always my favorite! They bring their closest of the close to the courthouse with them, meet up with the rest of their family afterwards for some family photos, and share a nice meal together at a downtown restaurant in celebration of their union. I especially love that I got to be there for Savannah’s getting ready time with her mom. I even got some photos of her bridal details. There’s one thing that happened at this courthouse elopement that has not historically happened at my others, and I think it’s a game changer! When we arrived, Savannah asked if they could have it outside. I think, ultimately, it’s up to the person performing the ceremony. You’d probably have to catch someone in a grouchy mood for them to deny you this one request on the day you’re getting married! For Savannah and Chase, they got a REALLY kind lady marrying them. She said, “ABSOLUTELY!” So, they got married on the sidewalk out front of the Knox County Courthouse, and it was perfect!! If you are planning a courthouse elopement, don’t forget to ask if you can go outside for your ceremony. It’s MUCH better than the room they take you to inside!
