The really awesome part of shooting Neyland Stadium engagement photos is, of course, that I was in Neyland Stadium. It’s massive and completely empty (well, except for their cleaning crew that is probably still like 100 people), and we basically get the whole entire thing to ourselves. The downfall to shooting Neyland Stadium engagement photos is that their last tour of the day starts at 3pm, and unless it’s in the dead of winter, that means lighting is TERRIBLE. Every single time I’m shooting Neyland Stadium engagement photos, I say a quick prayer that it will be cloudy because that helps TREMENDOUSLY, but I seriously feel like it NEVER is! Ha! (Any other time, I would be begging and so so thankful for the sunshine.) This time, however, it was cloudy! Perhaps the ONLY good thing to come out of Hurricane Florence. I loved loved LOVED the time I got to spend getting to know Kelsey and Justin. Having attended UT myself for graduate school, I thought I definitely had met UT’s most die hard fans. But, you guys. Justin wins. He wins it all. UTK, if you are reading this, you should probably go ahead and send Justin a big THANK YOU present because he is seriously your biggest fan. Win or lose, this guy is always bleeding orange. Right now, I know there are people reading this saying psh! girl please. IIII am their biggest fan. You clearly haven’t met me… But let me ask you this…do you have not one but TWO UT orange power T tattoos on your body? One of them in a spot where EVERYONE can see it? No? Yeah. That’s what I thought. Justin wins it, you guys. I think the deal is done, and he gets the trophy. Plus, he’s at every single game with tickets at the 50 yard line. It was fun to see his passion and to see Kelsey supporting him in that. These two are absolutely adorable, and it was a blast getting to shoot in Neyland with them!
One more funny thing. The engagement session tours are done by the same people who give actual Neyland Stadium tours (which you can book here if you’re interested). Usually, during engagement sessions, they aren’t talking to us giving us an actual tour, they’re just taking us to the spots that I want to shoot the couple and standing there until we are ready to go to the next spot. But the semester just started, and they just got a new group of tour guides. Our tour guide did a great job at actually telling us about Neyland Stadium as he showed us to each area. Justin was chatting him up most of the time. At the end of our time together, Justin laughed and said, poor fella, I think this was the first time he was touring someone who knew more about Neyland Stadium than he did. I thought it was hilarious so I wanted to share. Hope that made you smile.
