I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve started blogging weddings the week after I shoot them this year. It’s not always easy, but here’s one of the biggest reasons I love to do it…because it’s still fresh. It’s fresh on my mind, on the guests’ minds, the families’ minds, and most importantly, the couple’s mind. When I’m writing the blog, I like to talk about things that happened at the wedding. When I’ve shot 2…3…even 4 other events between shooting the wedding and blogging it, the other weddings will start to skew my memories of that one. Also, when I refer to certain events occurring, now the guests, families, and couple will remember exactly what I’m talking about. It’s really a win-win! So, for this wedding, it’s super crazy because the night before the wedding was full of thunderstorms and even tornado warnings. They started around 10 pm in Knoxville and literally lasted all night long. At 4 am, my husband and I woke up to a thunder clap that lasted a good 10 seconds, and our house was SHAKING. We both looked at each other and said is this a earthquake??? When looking at the forecast during the day Friday, it called for thunderstorms all weekend long. You’ve seen all my cool “Jesus cleared the rain” stories on here before (especially this year…there’s been one like every other weekend), but here’s another one to add to the list. By the time I left my house Saturday morning to go shoot this Whitestone Country Inn wedding it was sunny. It stayed sunny literally all day long. No thunderstorms, no rain, not even a sprinkle. It was supposed to thunderstorm ALL DAY…heck, ALL WEEKEND. you guys. Like…what??? How does this keep happening? Someone said to me recently, why do you think God gives you favor with the rain?? And to that, my friends, I want to answer…it’s not about whether it rains or doesn’t rain. It’s not about the bride and groom or their fabulous wedding. It’s about having a reason to share about Him and taking it. These rain stories have literally given me opportunity after opportunity to disciple to people. To share what He can do if you put your faith in Him and trust. So, anyway, that’s why I keep sharing. It’s not about favoritism. Please don’t take it that way. It’s about furthering the Kingdom of God!
Addi and Marques are so much fun. They surrounded themselves with so many awesome people on their Whitestone Country Inn wedding day. I can recount at least 10 stories off the top of my head that prove this, but obviously, I’m trying not to write a novel. Short essay, maybe, but not a novel. So, I’ll tell you two moments that had everyone rolling and were a total surprise to almost everyone! 1) After Addi & Marques were introduced at the reception, they were planning to go straight into their first dance. They made their way to the dance floor where their entire bridal party is lined up. Just as they were starting to dance, Addi and three of her bridesmaids started to do a little dance routine, and it was so much fun. Marques was TOTALLY blown away, and the guests all had their phones out filming it with smiles on their faces. It was a pretty long routine too so I was super impressed that they all took the time to learn it and did it so well together! I’m thinking they had to have practiced it the night before, but I never confirmed it. If they didn’t, then I’m really just blown away. 2) During the best man toast, I think everyone was laughing so hard they had tears in their eyes. Before I explain why, you need a little backstory. Marques played football at The University of Tennessee, his family lives in South Carolina, and his brother went to the University of Alabama. His brother is the one making the speech. At the very end, he said something along the lines of, I knew the only way I was going to get music I liked played, was by calling it out in the toast, so to all you UT fans out there, Alabama will forever be my Sweet Home. On queue, the DJ started playing “Sweet Home Alabama,” and Addi and Marques were laughing SO hard. Before it could go on too long, Marques grabbed the mic from his brother and started singing “Rocky Top” into it. It was hysterical and so perfect for a room full of fans from all over the southeast. See what I mean? Fun people. With that, I’m excited for you to start scrolling and looking through this gorgeous Whitestone Country Inn wedding!
