Way out in LaFollette, TN there is this AMAZING venue called Claihill Farm. I had never heard of it before, and when I pulled up, my jaw seriously dropped into my lap. First of all, the house is perfect. It’s a bed and breakfast when it’s not hosting a wedding. The owner has done the most FABULOUS job refurbishing the inside of this historical house, and they decorated it even better. Because it is normally a bed and breakfast, it has rooms and beds for the whole bridal party to stay in the night before. It has fabulous lighting, the most amazing kitchen I have ever seen in person, and bathrooms EVERYWHERE lol. The ceremony location at Claihill Farm is in the front yard. They have these gigantic trees standing across the entire front yard casting shade everywhere. As you’ll see below, the tree that the ceremony is set up in front of has this really cool branch that kind of jets straight out from the tree before taking a 90 degree turn to go upwards, and they have a super pretty chandelier hanging from this branch to act as the backdrop to where the couple stands. They also usually drape fabric on that tree branch as well, even though it wasn’t done in this particular wedding. The reception takes place in the back yard. The cake, dessert, and other little areas are put together on the back patio, and then, a tent is there to house all of the guests as they dine. The only downfall is that everything after you get ready is outside, and if it’s a hot day, it can be a little miserable. We got really lucky for Suzanne and Bryan’s June wedding though. It was supposed to be blazing hot, but there was a constant breeze from the storm that was forecast to come in the next day. It really ended up not being that bad! I’ve shot other outdoor weddings in June and have literally sweated 5 gallons of water from my body. A fall wedding here would be AMAZING. With the trees in the front yard and the mountain view in the back yard. The temps would be cooler, and I am just saying, that’s the best season in the south.
Suzanne and Bryan have known each other for 25 years, you guys. TWENTY-FIVE. Did you get that?? That’s nuts. They were always friends growing up. I’m not positive, but I think they secretly liked each other off and on over that time, too. When they finally decided to start dating, everyone else in their friend group was like ABOUT TIME!!!!! They really do complement each other so well. My favorite part about their wedding day was when Suzanne saw Bryan for the first time. She was upstairs getting her hair, makeup, and nails done when she glanced out the window and saw Bryan’s Jeep Wrangler pull up. Her voice changed, and she said, “Oh there’s Bryan!!!!! Look at him…oh he looks so handsome…he doesn’t know where to go…can someone show him where to go? oh she’s got it…the planner is showing him…but he looks so handsome…ooooh I get to marry him.” I was taking photos of her as all of this was happening, and the way everything about her changed when she saw him let me know just how much she loves this man. It was so cute and so sweet and so school girl for half a second. She would swear that she wasn’t nervous, but I think deep down she had some nerves building up in excitement that she was finally getting to marry Bryan after twenty-five years.
