I am so excited to share this with you because Beth is a new team member with the AMP team! She was hired a couple months ago, and this is the first session I’ve taken of her sweet family since the newborn session what feels like forever ago. Dustin and I have also been in a life group with the Tuesburgs for a super duper long time. We are really excited for them to actually have started their own group recently though, so now we just try to connect at church weekly to catch up personally before jumping back into the work week on Monday!
When Beth suggested taking pictures at Melton Hill Park, I was really excited because it is actually one of the very few locations that I haven’t shot at in Knoxville. I looked it up and thought for sure that I had never been there before. As I was driving back to it, I started recognizing the beautiful houses that you pass on the way. Slowly but surely, a memory started creeping back to me. Years and years ago, I went to Melton Hill Park when I was home from college one summer to go rope swinging and a little cliff jumping. It was just as crunchy now as it was then. When we pulled up there were all the hipsters with their paddle boards and picnics and hippie cars, and I just loved the atmosphere so much. It was so chill. There was a very fine line where the water stopped and the land began with a gigantic rock in the background. People tell me all the time that I’m a walking contradiction with my creative mind in photography, but my very abnormally organized mind with a CPA license. I think the same stands true to my inner hippie. Somewhere down deep there is a girl that loves incense, macrame, VW buses, geodes, and pretty much anything you buy from Earthbound. She doesn’t come out as often as my sporty, nike wearing, high pony girl though. I used to think that maybe I just hadn’t found myself yet, but as I’ve grown, I’ve realized I totally have found myself and it’s both of those people. I’m a little bit of one and a lot of the other and just like having creativity and a CPA license, it’s an odd combo but it is my combo.
Somehow this post turned into a self loving post. I didn’t mean for it to become that, but often times I have found that the Lord guides my fingers on this keyboard. When I started prepping for the Tuesburg’s blog post I knew what I was going to say. I have so so so many great things to say about this family, and as I typed, the words above just poured out and I’m realizing more and more often that the Lord is using these words to reach people who need them. So maybe tonight that is you. And if it is, you are beautiful and awesome and stop questioning yourself because you are you and that’s what makes you unique. If society tells you you can’t be you, that’s when you look society in the face and be you even harder. Okay. I’m done. 🙂 enjoy this beautiful family I love so dearly!
