There is this thing called Lifestyle Photography that a lot of people don’t really understand. Lifestyle photography is less about the poses and perfect smiles and more about the real, everyday interactions you have between each other in your own home. When a family books a lifestyle session with me, I ask them to first think about the area of their house that receives the most light then start thinking through things they do together as a family day in and day out. Sometimes baby baths are a part of this. Sometimes cuddling in bed. Sometimes eating dinner. Tickle-fests in the floor. Wrestling matches on the couch. Running around in the yard. Swinging on the front porch. Cups of coffee. Reading. Toys. Laughing. and the list goes on. I feel so strongly about a family doing a lifestyle session, especially when there are a lot of littles, because a) you will want to remember these worn out, grungy looking stuffed animals that they can’t sleep without, these teary eyed tantrum faces when they don’t get their way (believe it or not), the way you love each other and the funny things you find yourself doing just trying to make them smile and b) because lets face it, toddlers were not meant to sit still and smile at the camera all perfect like. So why put that pressure on them? When you could just do a lifestyle session and get the every day real life.
