This was the first time I had gotten the chance to shoot at Christopher Place and man oh man was it awesome. This little bed and breakfast has one of the best views of the Smoky Mountains that I have ever seen! I arrived at dusk to photograph Ellen and Jake’s rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. As I’m driving up the hill, you have no clue what you’re getting into. I pulled around the corner and saw the incredible house, but still didn’t know what lie on the other side of it. I entered the front doors and was greeted by the kindest gentleman… the owner. No his name is not Christopher. I sat all my gear down and walked out the back doors and I felt my jaw drop. Even these pictures do not do it justice. But what I really loved about it, not only was it secluded, in the middle of nowhere with a phenomenal view, but it was only 10 minutes from the highway. So if you did need something, you could easily run down and get it. But if you wanted to be alone in the mountains, you could also do that.
Ellen and Jake lived in Missouri, but they had people from ALL OVER come to support them on their wedding day. Most drove 10+ hours, a few flew, and all enjoyed a weekend in Tennessee to support two people they cherished so dearly. I had only met Ellen and Jake over FaceTime before their wedding which also was the case for the officiant who married them. The officiant and I were standing around talking waiting on Ellen and Jake to arrive to the rehearsal and when they did the officiant said “wow… you are super tall” as he looked at Jake. We all four started laughing, it’s funny how FaceTime doesn’t allow you to see the height of someone because they of course are sitting down. But regardless of their height, they were both just as giggly and adorable as they were over FaceTime and that’s what made this day so much fun.
