Community over competition is an ongoing theme in the photography industry. When you enter into such an oversaturated market, the competition is endless… literally. Sometimes that can be a little overwhelming and a few years ago, the leaders in this industry started preaching community over competition and it truly has changed the whole vibe over here. We look to each other for encouragement, conversation, and support. Don’t get me wrong, we still have competition but it’s definitely a healthy competition. The kind where we sharpen and make each other better. The kind where we can still get together and laugh and enjoy friendship. I would say that Erin is probably my closest photographer friend. We accidentally met a few years ago in Nashville when we traded services for each other. She was in college still and I’ve watched her grow so so much over these past few years. She graduated and jumped straight into full time wedding photography and I can not be more proud of her. That takes a lot of guts. Especially when you jump straight into adulting at the same time. We don’t get to see each other as often now that I live in Knoxville but we have the type of community over competition where when we do get to see each other it’s like no time has passed! I had so much fun getting these head shots for her! It can be hard to be in front of the camera when you’re so used to being behind it, but I think she pretty much killed it! She truly has such a beautiful, fun soul… I’m so thankful for our friendship.
