This Nashville wedding was definitely one for the books. It was at a cathedral off of West End called Cathedral of the Incarnation. I had never been inside this specific church before and, oh my goodness, is it beautiful. If you’ve ever been to Paris or Rome, it looks SO similar to the churches that they have there. Beautiful marble and sculptures and high ceilings with tile on the floor, golden accents at the altar and so much more tiny details that come together to form this magnificent sanctuary. This is also one of the VERY few churches that I’ve ever seen let you have a reception and a ceremony on site. Cali and Taylor were still allowed to have a dance floor and were even allowed to have beer and wine… so I was kind of in shock when I found out it was at the church. But it worked perfectly because the church is kind of separated into two major buildings that are connected with a hall/breezeway. The ceremony is in one side while the reception is in the other. Once you go over to the reception, there’s really no need to come back through the ceremony side at all! They even had another ceremony in the sanctuary during Cali and Taylor’s reception and no one would have ever known that either event was happening at the same venue just right beside each other. It really was a beautiful venue if you are looking for somewhere in the Nashville area to get married.
Now to talk about my favorite thing at this wedding! Some of you may already know the bride, Cali, from the work that she does at Parlour 3. She is an AMAZING hair and makeup artist that travels all over the world doing hair and makeup for both celebrities and the everyday person like myself! Needless to say on her wedding day she did her own hair and makeup and gah… it looked phenomenal. But really what I’m getting to that I loved the most, was that she did Taylor’s hair that day as well. You are probably wondering how in the heck she did Taylor’s hair since they didn’t see each other before the ceremony. It was one of the cutest and coolest things I’ve photographed on a wedding day! So Cali was getting ready in a hotel room while Taylor was getting ready at his house. When it was the right time, Taylor came to the hotel where a bridesmaid met him out in the hallway. She put a sleep mask on his face and guided him into the room. He sat on the couch while Cali worked her magic. Being so patient and having complete self control he never took the mask off. Once Cali was finished, she stood him up, gave him some kisses and then he left. They got to talk and spend some of their wedding day morning together and it was absolutely perfect.
Cali and Taylor also got an “after session” with me. These sessions are for couples that want to have more photos taken of just them in their wedding wear after their wedding day and usually after the return from the honeymoon. Cali had decided to get this before her wedding day, but when it ended up raining all day long, I was really glad that they had one of these! There was only about 15 minutes of day that did not have rain and we used every single second of it, but just wait when you see the after session pictures!!!! Cali did a totally different hair and makeup on herself, Taylor was much more comfortable and casual, the bouquet was made up of more fall flowers and they. are. stunning. So stay tuned over the next few days for those images, because you will definitely not want to miss them!
