2018 Favorite Portraits

There is a second branch to Amanda May Photos, and that is portrait photography. Portrait photography includes seniors, families, newborns, maternities, birthdays, headshots, fundraisers, anniversaries, and more. It’s pretty much anything I shoot that is not a wedding or an engagement, which are the main purpose of AMP. Sometimes, it means shooting inside the AMP studio, which is inside my home, but most of the time it means shooting at an outside location of the client’s choice. The majority of my 2018 favorite portraits are at parks around Knoxville.

In 2017, I took a little break from shooting as many portraits. I had Grayson in 2017, didn’t have a virtual assistant, had only one editor, and just didn’t know how much extra time I would have to shoot portraits. So, I purposely didn’t take as many. Then, in 2018, I probably took too many. There is a necessary balance of having your secondary source of revenue supplement your primary source but not consume so much that you don’t have enough time to pursue your primary. Or you just make time because you know it’s important and run yourself ragged staying up all night…not that I did that or anything ;-). So, in 2019, I’ve felt a clear and concise message to limit the portrait sessions I take on. I haven’t quite decided that number yet, but I’m thinking it’s going to be around 5-6 a month. That number includes October and November, which like most photographers typically consists of 15-20 portrait sessions each month plus weddings. I’m not exaggerating. So, if you want fall portraits with me this year, you should book them now. Then, you’ll have your very own photo in my 2018 favorite portraits post 🙂.
