A Destination Wedding in Richmond, VA with a Family I Adore!

Ajalyn and Sawyer’s Adaline Acres wedding was one of those days that left me completely amazed and incredibly grateful.

The forecast called for scattered showers all day, and not the harmless 20% or 30% kind. We were looking at 80%, 90%, and even 100% chances of rain throughout the day. Somehow, though, the rain never truly reached us. We felt a few tiny drops here and there, but never enough for anyone to grab an umbrella. At one point, the forecast showed a 100% chance of rain within the next 30 minutes, yet nothing came!

Instead, Ajalyn and Sawyer received the beautiful wedding day they had hoped for. We took all of their portraits outside, they exchanged vows in their ideal outdoor ceremony location, and everyone celebrated beneath the pavilion during the reception. Looking at the forecast beforehand, I never could have imagined the day unfolding so perfectly. Once again, I have to give all the glory to the good Lord above for providing the weather we needed!

One of the most memorable moments happened during the ceremony processional. As each bridesmaid reached Sawyer, she gave him a fist bump. Plus, they each added their own silly variation. One pretended his fist was a gearshift. Another challenged him to rock-paper-scissors. One pulled her hand away at the last second and swept it past her ear! Sawyer, the bridesmaids, and the guests were all laughing. I had no idea it was coming, but I quickly adjusted to capture every adorable interaction. It was the perfect way to bring personality and laughter into the ceremony without leaving the groom’s pockets stuffed with random objects!

The celebration ended with another moment I had never witnessed at a wedding. About ten minutes before the final song, Sawyer borrowed the DJ’s microphone and gave a completely unprompted, heartfelt speech. He thanked everyone for being there, spoke about how perfect the day had been, and poured out his love for his beautiful new wife.

It was such a sincere and meaningful way to end the reception. Ajalyn and Sawyer are two genuinely wonderful people who love each other and everyone around them so well. They are absolutely stunning together, and photographing their Adaline Acres wedding was a joy from beginning to end.
