Red Rocks Engagement || Molly & Peter

Molly and Peter’s Red Rocks engagement session could not have been more perfect! When we started planning their session, we knew it had to happen during the winter months before my schedule got too hectic with wedding season. Thankfully, Molly and Peter were flexible, and we made it happen at just the right time. It coincided perfectly with Grayson’s 8th birthday. So, we turned this trip into an unexpected birthday adventure, too!

Peter, a Denver native, and Molly, originally from Connecticut, now call Colorado home. They’re tying the knot this November at the stunning Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod, a dream destination for an elegant coastal wedding. Before their big day, however, we wanted to capture their love in a place that holds so much meaning for them—the iconic Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater.

Winter engagement sessions in Colorado can be unpredictable, and I fully expected chilly temperatures and snow-covered trails. Instead, we were greeted with an absolute spring-like day with 65 degrees and sunshine! The warm light and vibrant red rock formations created the most breathtaking backdrop for their session. One of the best parts? There were no concerts scheduled that weekend, which meant we had full access to explore the park without the usual crowds. We wandered through the towering rock formations, took in the expansive mountain views, and captured the essence of Molly and Peter’s love in such a natural and breathtaking setting. Red Rocks is truly a year-round gem for engagement photos because it offers epic landscapes and incredible natural beauty in every season. I am so grateful to Molly and Peter for making this session happen, and I cannot wait to celebrate with them in Cape Cod this fall!

Our Colorado Adventure

A lot of people commented about our vacation so I wanted to share the details of what we did! We flew direct from McGhee Tyson to the Denver airport via Allegiant. It was an amazing experience, and the plane was actually one of the nicer ones we’ve been on. The customer service was excellent, and the flight was quick and easy. We stayed at the most amazing duplex in the heart of Fraser/Winter Park. This Airbnb sleeps six, is so nice and clean, the host was incredible, and it was really convenient to everything we needed. I would highly recommend staying here again!

For skiing, we rented equipment from Winter Park Resort and did the day-before pick-up schedule. It was perfect and way faster than picking them up the morning of our ski day. We bought lift tickets in advance because they’re cheaper that way and did a one-day rental. Then, we spent the whole day skiing while the girls did the Coca-Cola Tubing experience at Winter Park Resort. We ate lunch there, bought some souvenirs, and played on the snowy playground. The next day, we went snowmobiling through Grand Adventures Snowmobiling Tours. We did the 1 hour tour + 30 min kiddie ride. The kiddie ride was cool, but if we had to do it again, I would do the 2-3 hour tour! I also recommend doing guided for the first time you do it. It was such a fun experience. We even saw a moose!

Finally, when I left to take the engagement photos at Red Rocks, Dustin took the kids to The Historic Fraser Tubing Hill, and it was the best tubing experience! No reservation was needed, and I would highly recommend this one. Then, we woke up at the crack of dawn the next morning to catch an 8:30am flight back to Knoxville. It was jam-packed with fun and very little sleep but totally, 100% worth it!

If you’re considering a Red Rocks engagement session, I’d love to capture your love story in this unforgettable location! It is a quick and easy flight for me, and I absolutely love any excuse to head to Colorado!
