Bri and Drew married at The Magnolia Venue last Thursday, and there are a few stories from this day. First of all, Drew joked with Devin (content_by_dev), their content creator, about wanting to include a bear in one of her videos. Of course if we actually saw a bear, it would DEFINITELY be recorded and included someway. But also, do we really want to see a bear? So, before Drew left for the The Magnolia Venue, they found a bear almost crawling into their trunk of wedding details they were loading up to haul over to the venue. Devin and I saw this on Drew’s Instagram story on our way up to the venue. Of course, I had to ask him how he got the bear out of his car. He said it wouldn’t move so they made a bunch of noise to scare it for it to finally go away. As they unfolded this story, they were so casual about it. Like a bear didn’t just almost rip apart the leather of their backseat or completely trash a bunch of wedding decorations they had spent months prepping. We didn’t see a bear at The Magnolia Venue, but Drew got his bear moment on his wedding day!
One other thing about Bri and Drew that I just loved. They don’t live in Knoxville, and they both have such crazy schedules that traveling into Knoxville for an engagement session was almost impossible. Instead of doing engagement photos, we added on an extra hour of wedding day coverage. I always recommend doing engagement photos to have a test run before the wedding day, but sometimes, it just doesn’t logistically work out. Especially for out of town couples. The downfall to not doing one is you don’t know what poses you love most, but that was not the case for Bri and Drew. They got to the Smoky Mountains a couple days before the wedding and deep dived into my blog. They screenshotted photos they loved, poses they loved, and they even practiced them. So when it came time for their portraits, they were recalling some of the photos and poses and just doing them without me even coaching them through it. It very much felt like we had done an engagement session. Like they were already pros!
I’m so thankful Bri and Drew hired me as their wedding photographer. Their wedding day was so special and absolutely so beautiful. The view at The Magnolia Venue NEVER disappoints, and the sunset that day was one for the books!
