Driving to this Sequoyah Hills family session, I was listening to Josiah Queen’s album “The Prodigal.” Then, a texting conversation replayed in my head from Hadley’s mom, Brittney. Their family is going through a lot right now. Just a couple months ago, Hadley’s dad, Dusty, lost his dad suddenly. It is never easy losing a parent, but it’s even harder when it is completely unexpected and way too early. For those of you reading this that don’t know, I also lost my dad suddenly and unexpectedly in 2017. Since then, I have gotten to walk alongside so many clients that have gone through or are going through similar situations. I remember agonizing with God over Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” How could He possibly use this for good? As that loss was still so fresh, I could not see how there could be any good come out of suicide. But as life unfolds and the clients I serve also start to go through that kind of pain, I realize this is the good the Lord is using it for. Helping others navigate the pain and the emotions and what to say and how to just take the next step. I hate Dusty lost his dad. I hate his kiddos lost their grandfather. I hate Brittney lost her father-in-law. But I’m so thankful they are my clients and were open to me praying with them before we began Hadley’s sweet 12 month session at Sequoyah Hills Park!
