Shooting a Hunter Valley Pavilion wedding is AMAZING. The ladies there have it all figured out, and every wedding I shoot there is a well-oiled machine. They get everything set up by noon. Cake, flowers, tablescapes….everything. They have chalkboard signs with perfectly configured calligraphy for any and all tables you could possibly need a sign on. They have dozens and dozens of linen colors to match your wedding perfectly. They are innovative and creative, and they try to help brides step outside the Pinterest bubble. All in all, they are killing it in the wedding world. Not just because of the reasons I already stated, but also because they are some seriously incredible people. Enough about Hunter Valley…let me tell you more about this Hunter Valley Pavilion WEDDING!
Danielle and Matt are one of the most laid back, relaxed couples I’ve ever had. The very first time I met with them was at K-Brew on Broadway, and when I asked them to describe their wedding to me, Danielle said, “We’ve told Brittany and Nancy that we want blush, navy, and gold, and we are just letting them kind of run with that. We are having a Hunter Valley Pavilion wedding because we trust them to rock it.” I immediately knew they would be SO much fun to work with. Fast forward to their engagement session, and both of them were so nervous. They kept telling me how not photogenic they were and how they both giggle when they feel awkward. They are the opposite though! This couple is SO photogenic, and their laughs make it that much better.
There are two things that this couple did on their wedding day that I especially loved. First, they had the venue for 6 hours, but they had me for 8 hours. Typically, brides will have me come wherever they are having hair and makeup done to shoot them getting ready and all their bridal details. The downfall to this is that I don’t have time to shoot the ceremony and reception set up because when we arrive at the venue, we go straight to getting dressed and portraits. Then, we roll right into the ceremony and the reception. So, instead of having me tag along with hair and makeup, Danielle let me go pick up all her bridal details on my way to the venue, and I got to photograph them all there while she wrapped up hair and makeup. I also got to photograph every square inch of the reception and ceremony site details. I also got to scout out new locations that I wanted to shoot on Hunter Valley’s beautiful site. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and I am SO thankful they chose to do that! The second thing was their faux exit. I preach this to every single couple that comes through my door, but hardly ANYONE does it. My time was up at 9, but Danielle & Matt had the venue until 10. Innstead of paying me for an extra hour to photograph the same people doing the same dance moves all night, they had everyone who was there, which was just about everyone because we were still an hour from exiting and only 45 minutes removed from the cake cutting, go out and do a sparkler exit! The benefit to this is there are a ton of people present for it. Not only do you allow your guests to partake in every feature of your reception, but you also have way more sparklers to run through. Their exit tunnel was loooooong. They had time to kiss three separate times in three different ways. They also got to turn around and walk away from me, so I have some exit photos from the back as well. It was my favorite, and I am going to continue to preach it to my future brides. Maybe, just maybe, this will hit some of their eyes, and they’ll realize how much grander their “exit” can be when it’s not really an exit lol.
