Sampson’s Hollow Elopement

Normally, when you think of an elopement, you’re thinking that the couple is running off secretly and getting hitched in a little white chapel in Las Vegas where Elvis is officiating. But it doesn’t always have to mean that. Elopements can also be a small, intimate destination wedding like this Sampson’s Hollow elopement. No, Tralene and Justin did not secretly run away from their families to get married, but they did travel in from Florida, picked a Monday evening, and had just the closest of the close friends and family surrounding them as they said I do. You know the best part of these Sampson’s Hollow elopement weddings? The flexibility. See, months and months in advance, Tralene booked me for her wedding to be happening on 1/1/19. We had talked about her timeline so that the ceremony was happening early enough that the pictures of her and Justin would be during golden hour. Then, back in June…or maybe even July…I got an email from Tralene saying that they just wanted to be married already and didn’t want to wait that long. So, we moved their date up to August 13, 2018, and because Tralene is AMAZING and values pictures of her wedding day so much, she got back with me to redo her timeline so that her ceremony was happening at the right time to have her and Justin’s romantic bride and groom pictures during golden hour. We totally redid her timeline. Now, can I tell you how many times I’ve had big weddings change their date just a couple months before the wedding? None. Because there is very very very little flexibility with a big wedding. Even if they did manage to get their date changed, they couldn’t change their entire timeline around. I love the flexibility of an elopement. I love the personalness (definitely just made that word up) of them. I love that I get almost an entire HOUR with the couple instead of 30 minutes. There are definitely perks to doing it this way, but ultimately, it’s about what you have been dreaming of. It’s about the wedding that you have envisioned for you and your fiancé the moment you knew they were the one. It’s about what is most important to you. Don’t just have a big fancy wedding because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do. Have it because that’s what you LOVE. If it’s not, be confident in your decision to have the smaller elopement style wedding, and embrace all the perks of doing it!
