I was so super surprised when I heard that this is the first wedding season that Cheval Manor has had it’s doors opened. Really though. It seemed like they had been doing it for years and had all the hiccups already smoothed out! Let me give you an example. There are various ceremony locations on site at Cheval Manor. One being right beside this pond that was a pretty good distance from the barn. When the second photographer and I had arrived at the venue, the girls were getting ready in an area connected to the reception. So, we saw where others were parking, and then, found a good place for our cars right alongside. When it came time for the ceremony, right before I was heading over, the planner stopped me and told me I needed to move my car. Otherwise, it would be in the pictures of the ceremony. I literally had to squint my eyes and look hard to even see the ceremony we were so far away. I looked back at my car, then back to the ceremony location. I was thinking, SURELY that’s not going to be seen from the ceremony, it’s so far away… but I AM the photographer, and I DON’T want cars in the back of all the beautiful ceremony photos, so I ran to get my keys, moved my car, and then literally trotted with all my bags hanging off my shoulders over to the ceremony as quickly as possible. When I turned to face the arbor, sure enough, my car would have been right directly behind them, and it was WAY more visible than what I thought. But they thought of this. Like… hello… the really experienced photographer who has been doing this for almost 10 years didn’t even think about this, and they’ve got it down halfway through their very first season. I was super impressed.
Alright. Recently, you saw this couple on my blog for their engagement pictures. Just as a refresher, I talked about them planning their wedding in 2 months. Well, here you go. Prepare for your mind to be. blown. I told Kaylyn… every corner I turned there was another detail that was absolutely stunning. I kept asking, how did you have time to do all this? and she did A LOT herself. Half the time she was teaching, and the other half she was taking classes for her graduate program. How? That’s what we are all wondering, Kaylyn. You are a genius and should seriously consider going into wedding planning on a deadline! But anywho… I want to talk about the special dances at this wedding. We had the mother son dance first, and Kaylyn actually sang the song they danced to. She is a really really really good singer by the way, and absolutely killed it. It was cool to hear why she picked the song that she did for Aaron to dance to with his mom. It was so sweet that I didn’t think it could get sweeter. Until. Kaylyn’s dad passed away when she was little. He also was a singer, and they had a recording of him singing “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle at another person’s wedding years ago. So, the DJ played that while Kaylyn was whole-heartedly embraced by her new husband, and there was literally not a dry eye in the crowd. Including myself… and Brittany, my second photographer. It was so precious, and I am so thankful to the Lord that they had that recording to play on Kaylyn’s wedding day!
Anyway… keep in mind how quickly they planned this wedding as you’re scrolling below. When you’re done, leave me a note telling me if you could tell that it wasn’t an 8-12 month engagement!
