This is the very first time I’ve gotten to shoot a Spence Cabin Wedding and I have to say… it was GORGEOUS. It might be my new favorite Smoky Mountain venue. Of course, it’s purely meant for small, intimate weddings, and the building itself has just the bare necessities. But the surroundings. Like, woah. They have SO MUCH variety in a very tiny radius. You’ll see for yourself as you scroll all the different back drops they have for options and just know that we didn’t go more than a 2 minute walk from the main building. You know what else is awesome about it? The lighting. Brianna & John got married midday, which means any other outdoor space would have been a hot mess when it came to lighting, but with the gigantic trees dispersing the high sunlight, it was gorgeous. Oh! I just thought of another perk. It’s significantly cooler than other places because it’s RIGHT on the Little Pigeon River (or maybe a creek leading to the river), which means it’s bringing a cool breeze up to the shore. Major plus when it’s reaching 90’s and 100’s with all the Tennessee humidity. I can’t say enough great things about this place. If you’re looking for a small intimate gathering, a Spence Cabin wedding is definitely for you.
I had talked to Brianna on the phone, but overall, hadn’t actually met either of them before the wedding. As a wedding photographer, I thoroughly enjoy meeting and getting to know my couples before their wedding day (hence the reason I include free engagement sessions with my major packages), but when it’s a destination wedding, that just isn’t realistic. When I did arrive and met them, I quickly realized how similar we were. Both of them were so so very smiley. Genuinely excited. Surrounded and loved by amazing humans. Laughy, cuddly, and completely smitten with one another. It’s the type of relationship that gets me all giddy to get home and cuddle with my hubby. I just got a very small glimpse into their life, but I knew immediately that it is chalk full of love, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect location than Spence Cabin to host their wedding.
