It’s literally been 2 years since I met the infamous Brittany Sidwell of Brittany Sidwell Photography. We talked over lunch with some other fellow photogs about creating a wedding photography group in Knoxville. Then, we all went paddle boarding on the Tennessee River with Billy Lush Rentals. And although that wedding photography group never came to fruition, a bunch of friendships definitely did. Wow, that sounded cheesy, but I’m getting real for a second. There is this “community over competition” phrase that has become so trendy in the wedding photography industry. It’s an absolutely amazing concept, but in practice, very very very few people actually do it. They think they’re doing it, they say they’re doing it, but they’re not doing it. So, when you can find a close-knit group of fellow photographers that you get along with, don’t compete with, can be completely and totally open and honest with…you hold on to that. Here we are two years later shooting head shots for each other, and I bet you can’t guess where we went!! Well, you can because it’s in the title, but yeah, my go to right now. We did some Baxter Gardens head shots!! So many photographers HATE being in front of the camera, and they shout that loud and clear. But I’m not going to lie, I kind of liked being in front of Brittany’s camera. She really did make me feel so so so freaking comfortable and so fun and so pretty. We shot for about an hour and were belly laughing 90% of that time (as you can tell with more scrolling). I think for me it’s less that I hate being in front of the camera, and it’s more that I hate taking 2 hours to shower, dry and curl my hair, put on actual makeup, and pick out an outfit. 2 hours is probably a little exaggeration, but how fast it took my curls to fall out is not an exaggeration. When I got my photos back from Brit, I saw my curls were completely gone 10 frames into the shoot. After AAAALLLL that work. Blah. Anyone else have lots of really fine, silky, flat strands of hair like me?? Anywho. I love Brittany, and I want all of you to go find her on facebook and instagram and give her a follow. You won’t be mad about it.
