Cades Cove Wedding

This was my first time shooting a Cades Cove wedding. This was actually my first time shooting a Great Smoky Mountains National Park wedding within the boundaries of the national park. But regardless, Cades Cove is a unique location in that it sits on an 11 mile one way loop that a bajillion other people are creeping on and stopping every 5 seconds to look at a blade of grass. I love it. Don’t get me wrong. It is single handedly my FAVORITE spot to shoot at within the Smoky Mountains, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not CRAZY trying to do it. lol. By crazy, I mean there is literally NO way to know how many people are going to be on the loop. How many bears will be out that will make people clog up the one way loop for hooooouuuuursssss…. so in turn, it is insanely difficult to arrive anywhere within the park on time. And if you know me, you know that I am anal about getting to places early. I’m late if I’m not 15 minutes early… that is not an exaggeration, and I’m totally fine for you to make fun of me. So, when it came time for Patty & Angel’s Cades Cove wedding at Lequire Cemetery within the loop, I gave myself 45 minutes to get from the beginning of the loop to maybe 1.5 miles into it. And I would have given myself MORE time except it was a really rainy, super cold day, and I was banking on there not being many people on it and even less wildlife to stop them in their tracks. I’m sure you’re laughing at me right now… 45 minutes?? That is ridiculous. But, no. You guys, it took me 39 minutes to go 1.5 miles. And to top it off, there is no cell service there, so you can’t see how far ahead your destination is and how much time google maps estimates it will take you to get there… you’re just rounding every single curve eyes pealed for the sign that says you’ve made it and glancing at the clock hoping that you see the sign before you’re late. But you know what? It is AMAZING. So amazing, in fact, that it makes ALL of that stuff worth it. The views alone will take your breath away. And if you’re as lucky as Patty & Angel, you will have a leaping deer run right through the field beside where you say your vows. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, more beautiful than committing your life to the person you love most while you’re surrounded by the incredible gloriousness of God’s work.
