Sampson’s Hollow Wedding

You’ve seen me bragging about Sampson’s Hollow Wedding s on here before.  I just love this cute little venue tucked back in some rolling hills just outside the Smoky Mountain National Park. I hadn’t gotten to photograph a Sampson’s Hollow Wedding during this season before and I think it might be my favorite! The colors were so amazing and then the sun peeked out and took the gorgeousness to another level. I used to think the spring was the best here because of the wild flowers I would get to use during the bride and groom’s romantic portraits. But the longer I look at Chantalle and Ryan’s Sampon’s Hollow Wedding, the more I’m thinking the fall is where it’s at.

Chantalle & Ryan

There were two things that really stood out to me about this wedding. The first being Chantalle and Ryan’s sweet puppy. Chantalle made a little dog bandanna for her puppy to wear that said Dog of Honor. It was absolutely adorable. Their puppy was so well behaved the entire day. Every time she was in a photo she would stare right at the camera. During the ceremony she walked down the aisle and just one time walked over and stood in between Ryan and Chantalle, got her 5 seconds of ceremony fame, then went back and sat with the bridesmaids. I’ve had a lot of experience with dogs in ceremonies and I’m here to tell you, it does not usually go well. So you can say I was so pleasantly surprised. The second thing was Chantalle’s first look with her dad. It was a very last minute thing. Everyone was at the ceremony site and we were getting ready to start when Chantalle decided she wanted to do a first look with her dad. So I ran back over the hill to meet them and when her dad turned around to see her, he had the sweetest reaction. This daddy was in awe of how beautiful his baby girl looked. They had the sweetest embrace as tears streamed down their faces. They both started laughing trying to stop themselves from crying. It was such happy tears and made me reminisce on when I saw my dad for the first time on my wedding day. He was sweaty in his jeans and t-shirt from trying to fix the wooden doors that I wanted to walk through. They had cracked on the ride over to the venue on his rollback truck and he was determined to get them fixed for me. They were one of my favorite parts about my wedding! He had his sunglasses on so I couldn’t see his eyes but I knew from the pursing of his lips that he was trying really hard not to cry. I walked over and gave him the biggest hug and I can still feel that embrace now. I’m so glad Chantalle did a first look with her dad… she will cherish that memory forever.
