Raquel and Garrett got married at a gorgeous church in downtown Knoxville and had their reception at Jackson Terminal. They also rented a loft in market square for the girls to stay the night in and get ready the morning of the wedding. All three of their locations were gorgeous. If you are choosing to have an urban wedding… please please please for the sake of your getting ready and detail pictures, rent a space like this one. It was above Uncorked, overlooking market square. There were AMAZING windows, exposed brick everywhere, sky lights, and a perfect backdrop for hair and makeup. And there was the church. Which had beautiful wooden pews and a stain glass window that was to die for! But Jackson Terminal! Jackson Terminal is an amazing downtown venue. I really can’t decide if I like it or The Standard more; they’re both so good. One of the coolest things about Jackson Terminal is that every single wedding that I’ve shot there has looked different. They have it setup differently each time so it really helps make each and every wedding totally unique. They also have such a variety of portrait locations that I can shoot different weddings at the same venue and have a completely different feel to the gallery of images. I’m a fan if you can’t tell.
As you’ll see below, Raquel and Garrett decided not to do a first look. Often, when couples decide not to see each other, they will reach around a corner and hold hands, talk through opposite sides of a door, or sometimes, blindfold the groom and have a moment together. The latter is what Raquel and Garrett chose to do and it was SO adorable! Not only did Garrett blindfold himself for this first look, but he also blindfolded himself to ride on the trolley with the rest of the bridal party from the Jackson Terminal to the church. Are you asking yourself how he didn’t get car sick right now because I definitely am… such a trooper.
Lets also discuss the dance floor. Everyone at this wedding could DANCE! I was telling Raquel before the wedding day that if she felt like she wanted to cut her 5 hour reception short, that’s always an option if she’s just exhausted. Well, it was such a party that it actually went 5.5-6 hours!! People dancing pretty much the whole entire time. There was one guy on the dance floor that just totally stole my heart. It was an older gentleman with black framed glasses and a bow tie. He could ballroom dance like nobody’s business. He had women of all ages out there waltzing all. night. long. All I really wanted to do was step in and grab my own tango! You’ll see him below.
It was an absolute pleasure to document Raquel and Garrett’s wedding day. In case you want to see other weddings at Jackson Terminal, check out the links below:
